Basketball Therapy
What?! Basketball Therapy?!
Yep! It’s exactly like it sounds. Rather than meet in an office, we’ll meet at a local indoor basketball court in Seattle. The court is basically our office. We will have the entire place to ourselves while we shoot hoops and talk.
Physical movement has traditionally been seen as something done outside of and in addition to talk therapy. But combining them is proving to work way better for some people. Moving your body will make it easier for you to relax, release physical tension, breathe deeply and talk about difficult issues.
The addition of movement also allows me to observe you differently and incorporate that information as part of our process. For example, I might notice tension in your body or a change in how you move. These might give us insight into how you operate in your emotional life.
Oh, and btw, no experience with playing basketball is required.
How Therapy Can Help
What we discuss during basketball therapy is not different from traditional therapy. I can help you with things like:
Understanding who you are and what you want to do with your life
Managing stress from school, relationships, parents, and all the pressures you’re facing
Anxiety, depression, OCD, learning challenges, ADHD, neurodiversity, Autism, etc.
Identifying your strengths, passions, and interests
Having better relationships with friends and the adults in your life
Learning how to set healthy boundaries with people
Feeling less alone
Feeling confident and resilient
Doing more of what makes you happy!
Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you.
