It’s Hard to Be a Teenager Today
Between the pandemic, balancing extracurricular and academic responsibilities, having a social life, managing stress, being yourself and fitting in, facing climate change, and planning your future, being a teenager is TOUGH.
You get on an app, and everyone’s life seems better than yours. You’re constantly under a microscope, your life forever documented, and it feels like you’re competing with everyone all the time. There’s a constant struggle between being unique (usually the harder option), and being like everyone else.
Others might think your life is full of fun and adventure, and yet you feel vulnerable most of the time. The never-ending exposure, bullying, comparisons, and extreme pressure makes you feel isolated, anxious, uncertain, and alone.
Hi, I’m Emily
I know that most adults don’t realize what it’s like to be a teenager right now. You’ve probably encountered at least one adult who thinks you spend too much time on your phone, or you’re entitled, oversensitive, or ungrateful.
Your teenage years can be a time of creativity, hope, beauty, and passion, but I can see that you’re shouldering a lot of responsibility and stress. You’re supposed to act like everything is fine, but you’re not always fine. That’s why I do what I do.
As your therapist, I will help you live life on your terms. You’ll learn skills that you’ll take with you for the rest of your life - so you can feel confident dealing with life’s challenges and go after what you want, even if you feel anxious or scared.

“Do the Shit that Scares You”
Small Group Therapy for Teens With Anxiety or OCD
It can feel like you are the only one who experiences anxiety or OCD, but the truth is there are lots of teens who are fighting the same fight. For 8 weeks, you will meet online with a small group of teens like you. You will work with the other group members to do the shit that scares you. By doing these things, you will change your relationship with anxiety and OCD, you will gain confidence in living the life you want to live, and you won’t feel so alone in your experience.
